Less to Possess
And when I lay in my final resting place,
surrounded by those I love,
I will think not of my possessions.
My mind will be consumed by moments spent outdoors,
with the wind in my face
and the sun at my back.
My heart will find sanctuary in the images of faces,
those most familiar,
those most endeared.
I will pray that I gave enough,
that I shared enough,
and that I touched all those who were meant to know me.
So may my possessions find a home
when my body finds another,
as I will forget them
as soon as my time draws near.
